Curriculum

Our Curriculum

Setting your child up for a lifetime of learning starts in early childhood. We balance school readiness, best practice and intentional teaching with open-ended play and discovery – giving your child a voice and the freedom to follow their interests.

Our curriculum caters to the individual needs of children to help them blossom. We offer care and education for babies from 6 weeks old to preschool age and also provide funded 3 and 4-year-old kindergarten programs

This transition from baby or toddler through to preschool age gives your child consistency and allows them to build meaningful relationships with educators and other children.

Children learn about the world through play. Play encourages healthy pathways for developing new skills, cognitive development and independent learning.

That’s why a play-based approach is the foundation of our curriculum. It’s embedded in all our programs and emergent curriculum – which adapts to the interests and needs of children.

Every child learns and develops at their own pace. However, to be ready to make a successful transition to primary school, your child needs a range of skills, including language and literacy skills, social skills, self-care (e.g., opening lunch boxes and independent toileting), self-regulation, and fine and gross motor skills.

Our educators and teachers work closely with children to empower them with the skills they need to thrive at primary school.

This helps your child graduate from Eastwood ELC&K as a confident, capable and creative learner ready for their exciting next chapter at school.

Indoor/Outdoor Program

At Eastwood Early Learning Centre and Kindergarten, the Indoor/Outdoor Program gives children the chance to move freely around their learning environment.

With learning experiences thoughtfully set up both indoors and outdoors, children are inspired to learn through play. This freedom ensures each child’s unique learning style is supported.

Gunaikurnai Language Program

Our Gunaikurnai Language Program enables us to promote an awareness of Aboriginal culture and language in a meaningful way.

Children gain perspective on the importance of the land we live on and discover just how connected they are to the local Indigenous community.

Through interactive and engaging activities, our language teacher shares knowledge through stories, puppets, rhymes, songs, art, gardening and more.

Stephanie Alexander Kitchen and Gardening Program

The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen and Garden Program is a fun and educational way for children to learn healthy food habits.

Through a range of hands-on experiences, children plant, water, watch vegetables and herbs grow, harvest, taste, touch and learn about food, as well as sustainability.

The program offers endless opportunities for children to learn, try new things and care for nature and all living things.

High-quality education in your child’s early years is essential for their development. At our service, families can access two years of funded 3-year-old and 4-year-old kindergarten, led by qualified Early Childhood Teachers.

Funded kinder not only saves you money but also comes with an array of educational and social benefits. It’s a powerful way to support their learning and development during their formative years.
